Zdeněk Sýkora devoted the 1950s to landscape painting, of the Louny surroundings especially. His landscapes undergo a great formal change in this period – from realistic paintings towards impressionistic and fauvistic up to images reduced in shape and colours, the so-called Gardens, at the end of the 1950s.
